Why does my washer sound worse with small loads?
A worn drum bearing or suspension part often only makes noise once the drum has enough momentum, which can happen even with a light load if it's off-balance.
Is it safe to keep using it if it's leaking a little?
Not for long. A slow leak from a seal usually gets faster, and water finding its way to the electronics underneath the drum is an expensive way to turn a small repair into a large one.
Do front-loaders really need more maintenance?
They hold water longer in the door seal and drawer, so yes — a wipe-down after use and an occasional empty hot cycle with the door left open keeps most smell complaints from starting.
